Shipping • Transport • Logistics
After obtaining his law degree (at Rotterdam University in 1996, where his final essay was about CMR art. 2 - roll-on/roll-off transport), Marcel Koevoet initially worked in the insurance business. After a couple of years he decided to pursue a career in law and has been practising law ever since.
He accepted a job as legal researcher at Rotterdam University in 1998 and in 1999 he completed the ‘Grotius’ specialist course in maritime law (with honours). A litigation lawyer since 1999 (initially for the Transport & Insurance department of a large Amsterdam law firm, subsequently at a mid size boutique firm in Rotterdam), Marcel set up KoevoetLaw in 2012.
Throughout his legal career, Marcel’s main focus has been on transport related matters – cargo claims (including goods carried by road, sea, air, other modes of transport and in storage), freight disputes, ship arrests, logistics contracts, etc.
Marcel’s approach: no-nonsense.
